Jermaine Beckford’s return to action at Yeovil has given Dougie Freedman a selection poser for tonight’s clash with Blackpool.

After more than two months out with hamstring problems, the Whites’ top scorer came off the bench to prove his fitness.

That gives Freedman a welcome dilemma with Beckford challenging Lukas Jutkiewicz and Joe Mason for a start.

He said: “Jermaine Beckford is back and that is pleasing.

“The front two have done fantastically well but there are moments when it is nice to be able to freshen it up.

“It was a hamstring injury we hoped would clear up in three weeks and we left it for four. A day or so before he was going to come back, he tore a different part of it which was frustrating.

“This time we have worked long and hard on him for six or seven weeks – maybe it has been a bit over-cautious but I am always wary and nervous of hamstring injuries.”

While Beckford is one possible change, Wanderers are forced to switch things in defence with former Seasiders defender Alex Baptiste sitting out a one-match suspension. But with Matt Mills back fit and in contention, most likely as a partner for Zat Knight and Tim Ream reverting to a stand-in at left-back, Freedman is far from concerned.

He added: “Alex’s red card forces us to make a change but we have a few ideas of what we are going to do there and comfortable with that.

“Matt Mills is in contention and that eases the pressure for us.”

Beckford didn't do much when he came on at Yeovil, so maybe Dougie is just saying this to keep him happy to sit on the bench?
Having Mills back is good as I guess Ream will have to play LB and Mills can compete with Wheats and Knight for a CB slot. White in for Hutton when he goes I guess.

Dougie,

There is a pecking order.

MASON and JUKE start.

End of.

Dont start these and we may as well start with a 2-0 deficit.

If we start with Mason he's going to have to do a lot better than he did at Yeovil.
