Dougie Freedman will send out his team at Doncaster tonight with the aim of sending the loyal Wanderers fans home happy again.

The Scot was quick to praise the support from more than 2,300 Whites fans at Huddersfield that he believes helped push them over the line to get the last-gasp victory courtesy of Joe Mason’s stoppage-time strike.

It extended Wanderers unbeaten run on the road to five matches, stretching back to a 1-0 reverse at Ipswich at the start of February.

And Freedman says the fans making the journey across the Pennines to South Yorkshire tonight can again roar the team on to making it a half dozen without defeat.

He told The Bolton News: “The fans were unbelievable again at Huddersfield and I cannot praise them highly enough.

“They kept with us right to the end and definitely helped get us over the line on a day we when didn’t play particularly well.

“People often say a crowd can suck the ball in but I just thought the noise and backing they created kept us going.

“When we won that corner at the end, the noise spurred the players on to get the goal in front of our fans and the reaction was superb.

“They will be there in numbers again tonight, I’m sure of that, and they can play a big part again as they have done many times this season.”

Freedman wants to reward the faithful fans who have backed the team on the road this season and is even looking at ways they can do that for a future home game – possibly by getting them all together in one section of the Reebok to recreate the atmosphere they do away from home.

It is something the manager hopes the club can look at.

For now, though, he just wants the players to keep performing right until the end of the campaign to repay that loyalty from the stands.

And he is stressing there will be no let-up in the final six Championship games.

He added: “It is certainly not my idea to pack up and go on holiday early.

“I set a certain standard around the training ground and we also owe it to the fans who pay good money to come and watch us.

“The last thing they will see is us not doing things right.

“We can never be fooled that you perform at the highest level every week – even teams at the top don’t do that.

“But the players have that spirit and we showed that at Huddersfield which was good to see.

“Hopefully, we will see that again at Doncaster.”

What a load of fucking tripe.

Reading that, you'd be forgiven for thinking that we'd had a pretty good season and had just missed out on the Play-Offs or something.

What he should be saying is "We've had a shite season, largely because we got off to one of the worst starts in the club's history and it took me over half the season to get my head round what was needed, but by then it was too late, so to prove I'm not a complete fucking joke, I'll be sending the boys out to try and win our last six games handsomely and hopefully start to prove to the fans that there is actually a plan."

But Oor Doug's too smug for that.

In his head, he's done a brilliant job this season and everything's great.
