Dougie Freedman has revealed he will again be without a string of senior stars for Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

Wanderers will be missing Mark Davies (groin), Medo Kamara (stomach), Alan Hutton (knee), Darren Pratley (shoulder), Stu Holden (knee) and Joe Riley (knee) for the penultimate game of the campaign.

“We are struggling – we’ve gone from the best bench I’ve had since being at this football club to the most inexperienced in a few weeks, and that’s no disrespect to the youngsters,” Freedman told The Bolton News this afternoon.

Medo Kamara looks unlikely to feature again this season after pulling out of the Barnsley game with a stomach complaint.

Freedman revealed that the problem proved more severe than first thought.

“Medo has got something wrong in his stomach, he’s not digesting his food right and it’s causing him pain,” he said.

“He’s a little bit better now but I’m still expecting him to miss this weekend.”

Alex Baptiste is rated 50-50 by the Wanderers boss, who will monitor his defender in training tomorrow before deciding whether to risk him.

But Freedman had better news on Aston Villa loanee Alan Hutton, who could be involved in next weekend’s finale against Birmingham City.

“Alan has had his scan and that only showed a little bit of inflammation in his knee,” the manager said. “He’ll miss this Saturday and then I’ll see if he’s in the right frame of mind for the last game of the season or if his knee is too sore.”
