Not a morbid thread, just an insight into the music that people hold the dearest.

If you had to pick five songs / tunes to be played at your funeral, what would they be?

Here's mine in running order:

Comfortably Numb by Floyd (Along with about 50% of the male population over the age of 40, no doubt.)

Who Knows Where The Time Goes by Fairport Convention. (Breathtakingly beautiful song sung by one of this island's most under-rated songstresses.)

Nimrod by Elgar. (Always brings a tear to the eye.)

Straight Outta Compton by NWA (Full sweary version, not the poncey radio edit.)

Machine Gun by The Commodores (To get everyone back up again, dancing out of the Overdale with a smile on their face.)

The wonderful Sandy Denny. Loved her and Fairport. I think I'll be seen off to 'Return to sender'. or 'Going Underground'.

I plan on being cremated so it's a no brainer.

We played this one at my father in laws funeral. Very hard not to weep if you have an emotional attachment with the dearly departed.

This song is great for a sudden unexpected loss on the male side of the family. We played this at my best mates funeral.

I'm having this one for my mother. She is still going strong at 79 and still has a few more years to go before she joins my dad. Apart from John Wayne, the only person I have ever truly trusted is my mum.

Another great song. This song sums up life completely and Andy was a brilliant messenger.

It would have to be Zeppelin's Rock and Roll somewhere in the proceedings for me.
Who Knows Where the Time Goes is a marvellous piece of music and would fit in nicely at a funeral as people enter the room prior to the service. Life is so short and the song sums it up perfectly.

LOL. They recently started playing that in my spinning class at the gym. The woman who takes the class has obviously just discovered 70s mainstream rock and has also started playing Golden Earring's Radar Love and Queen's Seven Seas of Rye. The young 'uns are not keen as we usually get four on the floor dance or trance but I'm happy to sing along while it lasts. I take spinning very seriously. Currently I'm making a jumper.
