Mark Davies has been told he can return to training within a fortnight after scans showed no major damage to his knee.

The midfielder limped out of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth, raising fears that he may have sustained another long-term injury.

Davies, who has had three serious knee injuries in his career, underwent scans on Sunday and Monday to determine whether he had any ligament or cartilage damage.

But the 26-year-old playmaker should be able to return in time for the next home game, against Brentford, on October 25.

By then Wanderers should have a new manager in charge, with the first two tasks coming away from home against Birmingham City and Charlton Athletic.

Davies missed the start of this season with a fractured toe and was also absent at the end of the last campaign under Dougie Freedman because of a thigh problem.

Since December 2012, when he dislocated his shoulder against Huddersfield Town, his longest stretch of consecutive games has totalled just five.

Wanderers’ record when the former Wolves man is in the team is commendable, however, with the recent setback against Derby County his only defeat in 10 starts.

The new manager should get rid of Mavies at the next opportunity. He is a complete and utter ponce.

Some people just aren't cut out for physical activity, but at least Breadman doesn't pass himself off as a professional footballer.

Only 2 weeks? He's toughening up at last.

2 weeks to his next game, or 2 weeks to his next injury?

That's the same thing.

That's the same thing.

Only if you are intent on keeping him away from the training ground too/
