All the TV news channel are reporting that crime figures are significantly down.
Do you actually believe this- or is it because either its not worth reporting crimes to the police as they won't do anything, or they simply won't record minor crimes to make them look more effective at policing.

Any views on this?

Its election time.  They will have been told to concentrate On major issues therefore not sweating the small stuff so the current crop of bellends in charge look better when they report crime is at an all time low

Btw, wrong section though

Burglaries of Residential Properties went up by 25% across Bolton last year.

Also reading The MEN, I find it hard to believe Crime is coming down.

More conspiracy bollocks.

If they say crime is down, it's down.

If the news are paid enough and tory loving wankers as well to say crime is down, it's down.
 I agree

"Crime figures" being down is not the same as crime being down and there's a massive difference between what is reported (perhaps 10% of serious crime in some inner city areas?) what is recorded (at the discretion of the Police depending on whether or not they want to do the accompanying paperwork) and actual crime.

So I don't doubt that "crime figures" are down, but that's got nothing to do with the level of crime. It could have trebled as far as we know.

11% is a massive reduction, especially when you consider that front line policing numbers have been greatly reduced in the last four years. It's funny how this announcement comes just a few months before a general election!
Personally, I don't buy it. I suspect it's more a case of smoke and mirrors than anything else.
