Our scouting system used to be superb in the Todd and Rioch years when we were in a similar financial position and looking out for bargains.

I know what you're saying but who would you have preferred to have (assuming wages weren't an issue?)

Apart from vela there's nothing between any of those players all bang average lower champo talent. And that's pushing it.

I don't really think Neil is building anything... he is doing the best he can with zero money provided. He is bringing in youth etc. because he has no other choice in it.  Shame really because I believe that if he was giving just a 3 or 4 mill I think he could have put together a squad that could compete. But that is not happening so we will likely squeak by this season but I couldn't imagine Neil staying on after next season. Why would he if a decent offer comes along.

Building a squad for the future may not be intentional and I totally agree he has to get what he can given the budget, but with 40 -odd players on the books, I think it's difficult to see how the likes of Derik, Cerberio, Woolery, Gouano, Sambou if he comes, and the other youngsters he's signed since clearing out or promoting the previous youth squad will get regular first team football. At least there will be healthy competition for places as well as cover for our injury-prone players.
Yes the kids will be competing for places now, but realistically - for most of them - they'll be aiming to break into the team later rather than expecting to play now I'd have thought.
Not everyone can get a first team game every week, but I reckon our development team will kick ass this year.

Anyone heard anything about the Pisano rumour since Saturday? 
I read his wages at Cagliari were under £10k a week so is probably affordable and perhaps just what we need after Wilson's "mixed" performance.

 i thought Wilson had a solid game on Saturday and we have a few young right backs in reserve. More pressing for me would be if we sell Ream, we would need to replace him sharpish

Hope we can hold out for a little more for Ream. This is QPR we're talking about and they'll have a sizeable chunk to spend off Caulker leaving.
