Wanderers go into the new Championship campaign having sold just over 10,000 season tickets, The Bolton News can reveal.

The figure is on par with 12 months ago but represents a year-on-year profit because of a slight price increase in most areas of the ground.

Although the financial issues at the Macron have been well documented, the club appears to be on a sound commercial footing at present.

After announcing a new shirt sponsor, ROK Mobile, this summer sales of merchandise are also understood to be higher than they were in 2014, boosted by a warm reaction to the new home shirt.

The black and gold away shirt also goes on sale tomorrow at the club’s family fun day, which begins at 10am with an open training session at 10.45am.

Wanderers have also invested heavily in a new scoreboard and pitch perimeter display, which they hope will eventually pay for itself once sponsorship starts rolling in. The initial costs for the equipment, which should be in place for the home game against Wolves on September 12, have been provided by the Bolton Wanderers Development Agency – funded by club lottery ventures such as Lifeline and the Golden Gamble tickets.

Neil Lennon’s side made their final match preparations for the new campaign with a 2-2 draw against Charlton Athletic at the Macron last night, with Darren Pratley and Liam Feeney on target for the Whites.

An official announcement is expected over the weekend to confirm that Emile Heskey, Stephen Dobbie and Lawrie Wilson have signed contracts for next season.

Medicals were held on Thursday with results checked over yesterday – but all three players are due to appear in a signing session for fans on Sunday at Bolton Central.

The club’s squad numbers will also be announced early next week.

Meanwhile, reports suggest academy graduate Andy Kellett could be the next player to leave the Macron.

Sheffield Wednesday have been credited with an interest in the youngster, who was loaned out to Manchester United last season but has made only a handful of appearances for the senior team in pre-season.
