Bolton Wanderers can announce that professional development coach Andrew Hughes has left the club to take up the position of first team development coach at Rotherham United.

Hughes initially joined Bolton as a player-coach in the summer of 2014 and has since gone on to work closely alongside Iain Brunskill and the club’s development squad.

He also took charge of Bolton’s first team squad on an interim basis, alongside the then-goalkeeping coach Lee Turner, for a game against Bournemouth in October 2014.

He leaves Bolton to take up a post at Rotherham working alongside recently-appointed boss Neil Redfearn.

“First of all, it has been an incredible experience at Bolton,” Hughes told [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. “From initially joining and playing alongside the under-21s to being in charge of the first team squad on an interim basis. I’m grateful to Bolton for affording me those opportunities.

“I’d like to place on record my thanks to the chairman and board at Bolton, as well as Neil Lennon and Iain Brunskill, with whom I enjoyed a really good working relationship. The development squad are in a good place under Iain and it is great to see a number of the younger players progressing through the system.

“I’ve made plenty of friends at Bolton and the fans were always warm and welcoming. It has been a great place to work, regardless of what’s going on off the field. I’ll always be on the lookout for their results and it was an honour to say that I’ve been able to work at Bolton.”

Everyone at Bolton Wanderers would like to thank Hughes for his efforts during his time at the club and wishes him well in his future endeavours.

Rat leaving a sinking ship (lol) Good luck to the fella. If Lennon goes I wonder who we will put in charge.
