Luke Brattan has returned to parent club Manchester City after the Premier League outfit recalled him from his loan at the club.

The midfielder, who initially linked up with Wanderers on a temporary basis until January back in late October, has featured for the Whites' Under-21 and Development side during his time at the club.

He will now return to the Etihad Stadium.

From City's perspective they were happy to pay his wages whilst he acclimatised to British football, but I don't think he's shown anything that would suggest he'll make their first eleven so maybe they were thinking he'd impress and we'd buy him - which obviously isn't going to happen now.
Or maybe they think that the atmosphere around the Macron isn't going to be good for his progress.

Or it may well be that City wanted some contribution towards his wages from us. (Let's not forget everything was hunky dory financially when we brought him in - the debt to ED wasn't a problem, all the bills were being paid, no threat of administration, no chance that the club's employees wouldn't receive their wages, no...everything was great, Phil told us.)

We all assumed that City would be footing the bill in its entirety, but it was never confirmed.

So it may simply be a purely financial decision not to have him anywhere near the first team.

Or it could be City wanted him playing 1st team football and realising he wasn't getting any decided it was better he played in their reserves rather than ours

loan agreements can be negotiated many ways...parent club pays salary, loaning club pays it, or any percentage in the middle. More interestingly, it is usual to have other elements, eg paying per first team appearance, pay per play, a commitment to game time etc etc. Generally the parent club loans someone for to get good footballing experience and match fitness. Brattan getting neither, so I am not surprised he is going back.

still don't understand why City bought him to be honest, he's never going to get a game for them is he?
