Ben Amos admitted that the overall feeling in the Bolton dressing room was one of frustration following Saturday’s reverse to Huddersfield Town.

Coming into the game aiming to secure back-to-back wins following Monday's victory over Blackburn, it wasn’t to be for Wanderers on the day as second half goals from Joe Lolley and Mustapha Carayol condemned Neil Lennon’s side to defeat.

And speaking to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] following the final whistle at Macron Stadium, the goalkeeper couldn’t hide his disappointment at the fact that the Whites were unable to capitalise on the confidence gained from their derby win earlier in the week.

“Before the game, we were hoping that we could take all three points and we were confident of that,” said the 25-year-old. “We started the game really well, but we just dropped off.

“Confidence was high after Monday and everybody was confident of coming into this game and picking up back to back wins so we could really kick on.

“Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be because we allowed Huddersfield back into the game.”

He continued: “We were unlucky on a couple of occasions to not score when we were on top, but when we dropped off a little we found that Huddersfield were able to play at will sometimes. They did play well, but at home we need to do better.

“They did get a bit of good fortune for the goals, but then we got some on Monday with the effort that came back off the post and into my hands. That’s football though.

“These things happen though and we’ve got to go again. We know the levels that we can hit but we just need to find that consistency.”

With Wanderers set to take a break from league exploits next weekend with a trip to Eastleigh in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup on the agenda, Amos stressed the importance of looking to the game as one which can help the team get back on the right track.

“Eastleigh is going to be a difficult game,” he said. “It’s not somewhere that most of the lads will have been before so it’s a bit of an unknown quantity, but we’ll go there looking for a win for a bit of momentum to get us going again.

“We need to go there, get that win under our belts and hopefully that can kick us on in the league.”

I love how we get our first win in 20 and suddenly it's "we need to be more consistent".
Losing at home to Huddersfield is still way more consistent with the season we're having than beating them would have been.

But in all seriousness, we're never gonna be consistent because that's just way too optimistic for this squad. The best we can really hope for is a sort of win one, lose one, draw one sort of pattern. And yesterday was as winnable as they come, yet we've thrown it away once again through some more clownlike defending and goalkeeping.
