Neil Lennon says it was very much job done, after Bolton Wanderers progressed in the Emirates FA Cup following victory over Eastleigh at Macron Stadium.

Darren Pratley scored the decisive goal on the night, firing home midway through the second period.

Gary Madine and Dean Moxey were also on target for Bolton, who had initially fallen behind to the plucky non-league side.

And speaking in his post-match press conference, Lennon now hopes his side can kick on and register an important three point against MK Dons in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend.

“I felt we were a bit pedestrian in the opening 15 minutes,” the manager said. “We got a real wake up call for our slow start.

“The game was never going to be easy and it was almost a no win situation for us. I felt that our players showed tremendous character to progress to the next round and it is job done for us.

“We scored a brilliant third goal and saw the game out comfortably in the end. We could have won it a lot more comfortably than we actually did.

“Psychologically, that should give the players a bit of a lift ahead of what is a big game at the weekend against MK Dons. Getting into the next round was important, both for the team and the finances.

“We lost Gary Madine with a groin injury. He had a bit of a problem going into the game but we really needed him to play. He did really well when he was on the pitch and scored a good goal.”
