U18s: Bolton 1-1 Cardiff City Ryan-white-4x3201-3264778_613x460

Ten-man Wanderers held on to clinch a 1-1 draw at home to Cardiff City on Saturday.

The young Whites took the lead through Ryan White during a positive first-half display, the winger finishing coolly after running onto Dennis Politic's reverse-pass.

However, Cardiff levelled the scores on the cusp of half-time before Jack Everest was sent off for Bolton on the hour-mark.

But despite their man-disadvantage, Bolton held on to claim a deserved share of the spoils against the Bluebirds.

Speaking after the game, Nicky Spooner said, “We started very brightly and dominated the first half. We had some very good patterns of play going forward and defended as a unit.

“It’s very pleasing. Ryan took his goal very well and we looked comfortable in possession.

“Heads dropped after we conceded in first half injury-time, and we started the second half slowly.”

He continued: “We gifted Cardiff more possession than we would have liked and then had Jack sent off on the hour-mark.

“The lads responded well and stuck at the task. They defended very well for the last thirty minutes. It was very pleasing having practised being hard to break down.

“At the end of the game we’re happy to come away with the result having finished the game with ten men.

Bolton: Turner, Everest, Boon, Marsh, Brockbank, Grivosti, Politic, Griffiths-Jones, White, Fearnley, Navarro.

Subs: Moore, Aspinall, Pearson, Abdo, Connell.
