Kicking off at 1pm at St Andrew's Stadium, the young Whites currently sit seventh in the northern section having opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Bristol City and 2-1 victory at Millwall.
Boasting two games in hand, a win against Birmingham could see Bolton climb to the top of the table.
In contrast, hosts Birmingham find themselves in ninth having lost their last outing away at Sheffield Wednesday.
