PHIL Parkinson has asked chairman Ken Anderson to “get creative” and shake-up the Wanderers squad before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Praying for an end to the ownership issues which have put all recruitment plans on hold, the Whites boss admitted Friday night’s 4-0 mauling at Hull City illustrates how necessary reinforcements currently are in his injury-hit squad.
It is feared Jem Karacan could face a number of weeks on the side-lines after limping off at the KCOM Stadium following a heavy challenge from Tigers midfielder David Meyler.

Josh Cullen (thigh) and Will Buckley (hamstring) also picked up injuries which will prevent them from training properly in the international break.
Parkinson had plans to bring in another winger this week, potentially moving on midfielder Chris Taylor to free up space in his squad. But the changes could now be more far-reaching – provided the ongoing battle for the boardroom reaches a conclusion, and possibly the relaxation of an EFL embargo which has been in place since December 2015.
“Looking at the points return, it’s not what we wanted,” he told The Bolton News. “We now need to be as creative as we possibly can to try and give the group of players we’ve got a lift with a couple of extra bodies. Whatever it takes to achieve it, we need to do it. I’ve spoken to Ken, we need to do something. We need a lift.”
Speaking for the first time on the frantic scramble sparked by the liquidation of Dean Holdsworth’s Sports Shield BWFC – which owned just over a third of the shares in the club – Parkinson could only report Anderson was doing his utmost to strike a deal.
“I have spoken to Ken briefly and I just know he’s working full-on to try and resolve the situation,” he said. “He’s trying everything he can to get it resolved over the weekend and before the deadline, which would give us a massive lift.
“Even if we came out of the embargo and didn’t have any money to spend, just to be able to bring a couple of extra players in would make the world of difference.”
