Kevin Davies has urged Wanderers fans to remain positive as the Whites return to Sky Bet Championship action after the October international break.

Still searching for their first league win of the season, Phil Parkinson's men host Sheffield Wednesday at Macron Stadium on Saturday, having already beaten the Owls in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.

Davies suffered relegation himself with Bolton in 2011/12, but is confident that the Trotters can avoid a similar fate.

And with 35 games still to play in the English second tier, the Sheffield-born striker stressed how important positivity is before putting his faith in the current Wanderers crop to turn their fortunes around on the pitch.

"It’s been difficult so far," Davies told The Bolton News. "But you have to try and stay positive.

"They do need to find a result quickly otherwise they will find themselves too far adrift.

"I hope they can find a way to break this run and get in and amongst the teams above them quickly. They have got a tough job on their hands."

Davies continued; "Managers say it takes about 10 to 12 games before you can get a rough idea of how the table will shape up, but the complexion of the table can change very quickly.

"I think they have enough to win enough games and beat the teams in and around them. I think they will be okay."
