Phil Parkinson says Wanderers are going to have to “get creative” in their search for goals.

With the transfer deadline now just a week away, Bolton are scouring the market for at least two new attacking recruits.

Parkinson concedes his budget will not allow him to compete for tried and tested Championship types but he remains confident he will be able to bring in players before Thursday’s deadline.

Forest Green chairman Dale Vince said at the weekend there was "no chance" Christian Doidge will be making a return to Bolton before the end of the window, leaving Parkinson one striker down on the options he had prior to January.

“I always felt it would be towards the end of the month when we got players in,” he said. “We knew there were issues to be sorted out.

“But sometimes you have got to wait to get the better-quality players and make sure you are not just bringing in players for the sake of it.

“It’s going to be difficult, especially at the top of the pitch, we all know that. Supporters are realistic. You look at the cost of strikers in this division and you are talking about astronomical amounts of money and we know we haven’t got that.

“We have got to be creative and bring a player in who will give us a touch of quality to help the boys we have got already.”
