Phil Parkinson says uncertainty over Wanderers’ ownership is already impacting on NEXT season.

With relegation all-but confirmed and a raft of players out of contract in the summer, there is no telling what kind of shape the club will be in when it drops into League One.

Parkinson and his coaching staff also have no idea if they will be in charge beyond the next four games – which has left preparations way behind schedule.

“I think everyone is waiting for new owners to come in,” Parkinson said. “if you are going to buy a football club you are going to have your plans on what you want to do and who you want to take the club forward.

“At this stage of the season, irrespective of league position, you are planning for pre-season, trips, games etc. But as it stands at the moment, we haven’t done anything at all.”

Wanderers were beaten 4-0 at Derby County on Saturday to compound what had already been a miserable week.

Players are hoping for a breakthrough with owner Ken Anderson this week, with the club potentially applying for a court order to unfreeze accounts and allow their overdue March pay to be allocated.

Parkinson hopes players and staff can maintain a professional attitude to see a nightmarish season through.

“We have to be realistic,” he said. “After losing the two home games the odds were heavily stacked against us, shall we say. That result has made it worse.

“We have to sit down as a staff and make sure we’ve got the right preparation for the week, physically and mentally for the players.

“It compounds the situation. When you are in a football environment results dictate the mood of everyone throughout the week – players, managers, supporters, everyone who works at the club.

“Without the problems we’ve had losing is difficult to take but this does add to the mental strain we’ve all been going through.”
