Nathan Delfouneso believes Wanderers have all the qualities to carry their free-scoring pre-season form into League Two.

The frontman has already found the back of the net in games against Bamber Bridge and Loughborough University having been paired with fellow new boy Eoin Doyle up top.

That promising partnership is in the early stages with the 29-year-old former Blackpool man enjoying working with the division’s top goalscorer last season while also impressed with the other attacking talent Ian Evatt has at his disposal.

“There seems to be a very good understanding,” Delfouneso said of working with Doyle.

“We’ve spoken to each other about it, we’ve spoken to the coaching staff about it in terms of how we’re moving, where we are with each other and that kind of thing.

“I believe that we’ll be a massive threat to anybody, no doubt about it.

“We’re working hard together and there’s others. There’s Mo (Faal), Ali (Crawford), all the attacking midfield players like Sarce (Antoni Sarcevic) and people like Brandon (Comley) all of whom have great attacking ability.

“It’s all of us linking up together and we need to generate a really good understanding between me and Doyler as a front partnership but there’s also the understanding with the players behind us because they are going to be our supply line.

“We’re working on it each day and all we can do is continue to do that and we’ll get the rewards come the season, I really do believe that.”

Delfouneso opened his Whites account in the 7-0 win at Brig before grabbing two in the 6-0 victory against the University, the squad’s base this week.

“It’s always good for the confidence if you start as you mean to go on,” he told The Bolton News.

“It’s good to get a few goals in the first two and I’ll look to add to that in the games to come and really hit the ground running once the season starts.

“I’m feeling good, feeling fit, sharp and I know the more games I get the better I’ll get so I’m on the right path and I feel like I’ll be peaking at the right time.”

The former England Under-21 international, who started out at Aston Villa and left Bloomfield Road having scored 39 goals in 240 appearances across four spells with the Seasiders, believes the current training camp is key to success in League Two next season.

He is one of 14 new arrivals as Evatt shapes his squad for life in the fourth tier with the last few days seeing the squad get the chance to spend some quality time together while also work on the new head coach’s expansive playing style.

“It’s been really good,” Delfouneso said.

“Everyone’s gelled together, players, staff, everyone that’s been in and around it has been first class.

“Coming to Loughborough has been a great opportunity for all of us to bed in the work that we’re looking to do.

“We’re thankful to the Bolton Wanderers lottery for helping make this possible and all the people here who have been really welcoming. The facilities have been first-class.

“I’ve had a lot of pre-seasons so I know how crucial they are, especially with this clean slate, it’s a brand new project.

“The club has gone through a lot over the last few years and is almost starting again. The reset button has been pressed and there’s a great energy, vibe and optimism about the place.”
