Seems M&S are taking legal action against Aldi, arguing the supermarket's Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake infringes its Colin the Caterpillar trademark.

In the article (link below) it also says that other stores also have their own caterpillar cakes -

"Waitrose's Cecil, Sainsbury's Wiggles, Tesco's Curly, and Asda's Clyde the Caterpillar", so which do you reckon is the best name, or have you got a better one?

Curly the caterpillar seems the best one to me!

Mine is called Bernard. If you wind him up, he walks.

I should add that, after a while, the excitement palls.

Chris Packham's not amused and neither's his mate, Vinny.

Can't help wondering though, how much of other folks money Vinny has shelled out on lawyers in recent years.

M&S have no chance in court. This is just another huge chunk of free publicity.

Do you mean cheap publicity, Boncey? Cheap being in comparative terms.

Doesn't really matter. A cake I, and many others were unaware of, is now front and centre. Both companies are on a winner.
Although I'm not sure the ALDI cake is still being sold.

Back in the day, one of my clients was trying to set up a business called Easygolf and immediately had Stelios's lawyers all over him - apparently Stelios though he had rights to any business name beginning "easy" - even though he hadn't registered them. Client renamed his business but not before putting Stelios back in his box and I believe others have used the name since. Litigious barstewards some folk.
