'It should be a red card' - Charlton boss Johnnie Jackson on Gethin Jones tackle 13456081

Johnnie Jackson felt Gethin Jones should have been sent off during Wanderers’ 2-1 win against Charlton at the UniBol.

The Welshman was shown a yellow card for a foul on George Dobson in the first half, and Jackson insists the Whites should have been down to 10 men.

Bolton went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Dion Charles and Will Aimson, extending their unbeaten run to six games.

When asked if he was surprised that Jones only received a yellow card, Jackson said: “I was yeah, I thought it was a red card.

“It’s a bad tackle from the lad. He’s caught George late and high up. It’s not on his foot - it’s above his ankle, on his shin.

“It’s not a good tackle, it should be a red card.”

Ian Evatt admitted he thought Jones could have been sent off but insists Jason Pearce was also lucky to stay on the pitch.

The Addicks had won their last three league matches prior to tonight’s game and Jackson felt they should have done better with both goals.

He added: “Tight game, decided by from our point of view two really poor goals conceded. Ultimately they’ve cost us.

“The first one obviously an individual mistake and then you’re chasing a little bit. You get yourself back in the game and then to concede from a set-play is really disappointing.

“We didn’t need to commit a foul in that position, but then you have to defend it and we haven’t in that moment.

“I haven’t seen it back but obviously a lapse in concentration and not enough desire to keep it out of the net.”

The result sees Evatt's men consolidate their place in the top 10 ahead of Saturday's trip to Oxford.
