TEAM NEWS: Ian Evatt supplies an update on side to face Accrington Stanley 13687453

Kyle Dempsey will not be rushed back in time to face Accrington Stanley at the University of Bolton Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday.

The midfielder has missed the last two games with a minor hamstring strain but is now on the verge of a return to training.

Ian Evatt says he will not push the former Gillingham man too hard with only three games of the season to go but has not ruled him out of playing against Cheltenham Town or Fleetwood in the final two weekends.

“I don’t think he is ready to play against Accrington,” he said. “He hasn’t trained and though he is desperate to get back he will need a full week’s training before we think about putting him back in.

“It is just not worth the risk at the moment.”

Wanderers are likely to rotate their front line against Accrington and bring in Elias Kachunga, Dapo Afolayan and Stanley old boy Dion Charles for the game, which has already sold nearly 17,000 tickets.

Kieran Lee has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a heel injury but Andy Tutte made a return to light training duties last week after missing nearly the whole of the season with a torn hamstring and associated problems during his rehabilitation.

Skipper Ricardo Santos (hamstring) will play no further part for the Whites this season and Lloyd Isgrove (hamstring) and Josh Sheehan (knee) are also missing long term from the squad looking to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

At Doncaster Wanderers handed George Thomason his first start since January 11 and Evatt was pleased with the way his midfielder handled himself.

Amadou Bakayoko is also fasting for Ramadan, which means his workload will have to be managed for the time being.

“George became a bit tired, of course,” the manager added after the final whistle on Saturday. “He fatigued a little bit and Baka with Ramadan, we’re having to manage his energy levels, but I thought them two were outstanding with what they provided the team.

“We think that George is a really good young player and he’s going to have a bright future. He’s had to be patient because we’ve got some really good players in that area. He’s showed today what he’s capable of.”
