'Well set up' - Salford head coach Neil Wood's verdict on Wanderers 14334887

Salford City head coach Neil Wood says his side have “nothing to lose” ahead of their Carabao Cup clash with Wanderers.

The former Manchester United youth coach took charge at the Peninsula Stadium over the summer, succeeding Gary Bowyer.

The Ammies have made a positive start to their League Two campaign, picking up four points from matches against Mansfield and Swindon.

Wood is expecting a tough test against the Whites but insists he will set his team up to win the game.

“We’re looking forward to it. It’s a big game, it’s a really hard game - a game that we have to be really prepared for because they’re a good team,” he told the club’s website.

“They like to play some good football and they like to add some tactical tweaks in there.

“It’s going to be a challenge. It’s a challenge we are looking forward to and we will go there fully prepped and see what we can get out of the game.

“We want to win every game. It is not always possible to win every game but I think it is important that we set up and find ways to try and win.

“They are a good team. They are well set up and they have got some good footballers there so it is not going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination.

“We have got nothing to lose but we have got to make sure we play how we think we can play and keep building on our performances from the last two games.”

The winner will find out their opponent in the second round on Wednesday night when the draw takes place live on Sky Sports after Sheffield Wednesday v Sunderland.
