Why Wanderers must be prepared for 'different challenge' at Wycombe 16465364

Ian Evatt says Wanderers know what to expect from Wycombe – and could make changes to deal with their “strengths”.

Gareth Ainsworth’s side have won their last five matches as they aim to climb into the League One play-off places.

The Chairboys currently sit three points behind sixth-place Barnsley following a 2-0 win at Accrington in midweek.

The Whites are also in good form, but Evatt is expecting a “completely different challenge” at the weekend.

The Bolton boss said: “They are a really good team. Gareth has done an incredible job there. They are always there or thereabouts, they are a good yardstick for this division.

“It is always a difficult place to go. We know what to expect, there is no secret there. We know it is going to be a tough game and both teams will be going to win.

He added: “It is going to be a completely different challenge to the Charlton, Peterborough and MK Dons games, so we will pick a team that we think can cope with that challenge.

“It is no sleight on anyone – (the team) has done incredibly well in recent weeks. But this game specifically will require a certain strength to be able to deal with their strengths.

“We will have a look at it, we will formulate a gameplan as we always do and give it our best shot.

Wanderers suffered a narrow defeat in their last trip to Adams Park, with Sam Vokes getting the decisive goal.

“You have to defend your box really well, you have to win first contacts and duels, you have to win second balls,” Evatt explained.

“Then you have to be composed in possession when you get moments and chances in transition, and you have to take those opportunities.

“It is going to be a real good test, but one we are all looking forward to.”
