Remember that poor woman who disappeared and was eventually found in a river a week or so after, well it seems another lady in Norwich has randomly gone missing to.

Mum of three, 55 year old, Gaynor Lord, who left her job as a sales assistant at a big posh town centre store mid afternoon - and a couple of hours before she should have left, is shown running across the town centre on CCTV clearly in a rush, and her possessions (phone, jewellery, coat) were found in a park by the river a mile or so away from the town centre, a few hours later.

All very odd.

This happened last Friday and she hasn't been seen (or presumably heard from?) since.

Obviously I hope she's ok and safe but something odd has happened here otherwise it wouldn't be on the national news.

Story here -

I hope she is found safe but I'm starting to doubt it as if she was ok she would have been in touch with her family.

God knows what her kids are going through at this moment in time.

It's nearly Christmas as well.

Clearly something set her off, you don't see women in a rush like that unless she is late for something or other, or if she was upset and crying (which she didn't seem to be).

Sounds from the reports that the police thinks she's in the water.

You would have though at 4 or 5pm on a Friday afternoon that someone would have seen something if she had stripped off and jumped in, wouldn't you?

How do you even drown yourself if that was what she was intent on doing, wouldn't you automatically try to save yourself if you could swim - maybe she couldn't perhaps?

I would have thought taking a pile of sleeping pills or whatever, when you know you won't be found for hours would be the way to go rather than half naked in a freezing river, in the middle December, in the afternoon of a busy city centre.

Doesn't make any sense to me but then again I've never had such dark thoughts that maybe she had.

Whatever it was, if indeed she's ended it, could it not have been fixed somehow, someway, I'm sure whatever it was, wasn't worth her life.

Hope she's safe somewhere but things don't seem to be pointing in that direction unfortunately.

A bit of an update today, all seems a bit odd to me about the yoga and the sitting about?

I guess she was somehow building herself up to do what she felt she had to do?

Can't understand it myself.

I've had bad times in my life, I'm sure we all do sooner or later, but life has to go on, or it least it always has for me, I guess that's just the way I am and obviously we aren't all the same.

Awfully hard on those who's left behind though.

Here is what we know so far:

Specialist divers are again searching the River Wensum close to where Gaynor Lord's belongings were found scattered across Wensum Park

Officers from Norfolk Constabulary have also been searching an area of wasteland nearby

About 0.7 miles (1.2 km) downstream, search teams from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have been spotted at New Mills Yard pumping station

Ms Lord was reported missing on Friday evening after a member of the public found her belongings, including clothing, two rings and a mobile phone in Wensum Park

Ms Lord had left work early at 14:45 GMT and could be seen on CCTV rushing through Norwich city centre on foot

Footage shows she spent 33 minutes in the grounds of Norwich Cathedral before heading in the direction of Wensum Park

A witness in the park said she saw a woman matching Ms Lord's description in a "yoga pose" at about 16:00 and that she seemed "calm"

Police believe she may have entered the River Wensum and officers do not suspect "third party involvement"

Was it a yoga pose or was she in prayer Sluffy? As you say it does sound very strange but who knows what’s going on in peoples lives? We can all surmise the situation, was everything alright at home, did she want to end it all, is that why she left her wedding rings? Was it a distraction and she’s off to start a new life somewhere else and with someone else, leaving her rings. You can imagine all kinds of things and I’m sure the authorities will be looking into her background avidly. You just have to feel for her friends and relatives who must be in pieces and as confused as the police. We must all hope that she hasn’t ended her life and will come home to her family safe and sound before Christmas however bleak it looks right now.

It was reported as a yoga pose - so I just assume it was one like where you sort of cross your legs over each other in a sitting position - if you know the one I mean.

Her friend said she received a call from her at 2:15 that day, but had to dash off to answer a work call story here -

Gaynor Lord: Friend 'feels terrible' over call from missing woman
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-67718635

...thirty minutes later she left work before the end of her shift and about two hours later she apparently threw herself into the river...!

This apparently is a picture of her leaving work that day...

CCTV shows Gaynor Lord leaving work

Gaynor Lord's friend Julie Butcher has spoken of seeing her in department store Jarrolds, where she worked on a gin concession, on Tuesday, when she "seemed fine".

Ms Lord left work early on the day she disappeared.

She is described as 5ft 6in (1.67m) tall, white with blonde, shoulder-length hair in a bob.

This CCTV image from the store shows what she was wearing that day, including a white blouse and yellow tank top.

Her clothes and other items, including jewellery and a mobile phone, were discovered by a member of the public at Wensum Park later on Friday.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-england-norfolk-67713921

...she doesn't look distressed does she?

Yet something caused her to leave early (without permission?), run across town, strip off and jump in the river???

It doesn't look planned, so God knows what it was or why she felt there was no other choice???

I feel terribly sorry for her and her family.

Hope she's ok but it doesn't look as this will turn out that way unfortunately.

I’m sure I said this last time as a scenario with Nicola Bulley but could this be another John Darwin situation?

Has she ran off with a younger bloke and simply stuck two fingers up at her family?

She either doesn’t want to be found or someone has sadly murdered her.

I think it’s the latter.

One thing I wouldn’t have done is got the so called “experts” in that were part of the Nicola Bulley case!

store worker says she told him 'I'm feeling a bit funny today'

Does the woman have recent mental health issues such as anxiety or similar or she had a medical episode?

It still doesn’t explain why her jewellery, clothes etc were in a pile.

Was she raped and murdered?

It’s a terrible situation her daughters are in. They must be heart broke.

Many comments in the Daily Mail are suggesting she has taken her own life from how her belongings were laid out at the side of the river.

I really hope this isn’t the case and that through some miracle she is found safe and well.

It’s looking most likely that she has gone in the river but there have been numerous cases of people leaving clothes and just disappearing. She went missing in the Cathedral for around 30 minutes, did she get changed? Why would you even think of leaving your rings, presumably wedding and engagement, though not confirmed if you were about to commit suicide? People don’t kill themselves on an impulse doing what she did, it was obviously planned and thought out. I genuinely hope she’s found fit and well but I do fear the worst, especially for her family and coming up to Christmas.

Gaynor Lord: Body found in search for missing Norwich mum

Police searching for missing Norwich woman Gaynor Lord have recovered a body from the River Wensum.

Norfolk Constabulary confirmed it was recovered from the water this morning by underwater search teams.

While the body has not been formally identified, Ms Lord's family has been informed, the force added.

The whole thing doesn't add up for me.

Gaynor leaves work about an hour or so early and rushes through the town centre. The next time we hear something in the news basically is that her belongings were found at the side of the river and a body has been found at the bottom of the river in a big black bag.

The body hasn't been formaly identified yet.

What are the chances that it is the body of someone else that went missing then the Police would have
two major incidents on their hands.

The Police have also ruled out a third party involvement in this as well.

Is it me or are the Police a bunch of dumb fucks from what we have seen in the news?

This gets curiouser and curiouser. I hadn’t heard the body was in a bag Karly but if that’s the case it adds yet another question to the mystery. In fairness the police must be pretty certain to rule out a third party being involved, especially after the Nicola Bulley case but I’m sure we’ll hear more soon.

I don't think that is right about a bag?

More likely someone has got their wires crossed and mistook that she was put in a 'police body bag' and taken away or something along those lines.

You could be right there Sluffy.

The body will be formally identified tomorrow I believe according to the Daily Mail.

There is a bit of a back story to all this sadly with her having some sort of mental health issues in the past.

Mystery to me too. I've seen her in Jarrold's store and a friend of mine knew her and describes her as a sociable woman who was active, played tennis in the league with my friend and practised yoga.
As in so many cases, no external signs that she had any kind of problem.

Unfortunately lusty none of us, even close friends, know what goes on behind closed doors and it seems obvious this lady had problems. I do though think the “mental health” tag is used far too often these days. You can be perfectly mentally able yet suffer worries and concerns which clearly must be the case if you’re encouraged to take your own life. I understand she tried to contact her friend before she took did what she did and it may have made all the difference if she had. Sadly we’ll never know now.
