Paris Maghoma has options on the continent as he plans his next move – but Ian Evatt has reiterated that he won’t be back in for the former loan favourite.

Rumours have bubbled around social media for much of the summer that the Brentford midfielder could make a dramatic return to the Toughsheet Stadium.

Evatt remains in touch with Maghoma, who will be out of action for another month with the ankle injury he sustained playing for Bolton in the play-off final against Oxford United.

It looks increasingly likely that the midfielder will move away from Brentford in the final year of his contract, with first team football unlikely in the Premier League.

But asked if Wanderers have made any move to bring the 23-year-old back to Bolton, he said: “No we haven’t.

“I have spoken to Paris several times and we have a really good relationship. He actually rang me while we were away in Portugal and said his phone had been blowing up.

“At the minute he’s still injured, and he’s probably going to be injured until the end of August with the one he got at Wembley.

“There is a lot of interest in Paris from clubs who are in Europe, so we kind of knew the scenario and if we didn’t get up, we would struggle with it.”

Maghoma won Bolton’s young player of the year award last season, scoring nine times in 50 appearances in all competitions.

Wanderers are looking for an attack-minded player who can link midfield and attack in a similar way and have already made offers for Luton Town’s John McAtee and Brest’s former Blackpool loanee Karamoko Dembele.

The club are also looking at loan options, and Evatt has high hopes that he and Chris Markham can bring in another player who can create a similar splash to Maghoma next season.

He said: “What I will say is that every season we have managed to unearth a Paris, a Conor Bradley, a James Trafford, a Marlon Fossey, that the fans fall in love with, and they have to trust us that whoever we bring in this summer that they will have new names to really buy into and adore. That’s our job recruiting for Bolton Wanderers, really, bringing in players who fans build a relationship with and buy into.”
