Sammy Lee has returned to Bolton as head of coaching and development at the academy.

The Liverpool FC legend, who was axed after a brief spell as Bolton manager four years ago, has been head-hunted to improve the quality of players coming through at the Reebok.

Lee has been on the look-out for a way back into the game since leaving Liverpool at the end of last season.

The popular Scouser will now begin his fourth different job with the Trotters, having previously been a player and assistant to manager Sam Allardyce.

When he replaces Coyle as manager we are going to be sorry.

Shrewd move from the club to bring him into the academy in my opinion.

A decent interview with Lee in the Bolton News today and fair play to him for taking the sacking he got gracefully and leaving on good terms with Gartside.

I never knew Gavin McCann was involved with our academy either.

Lee will be under the guidance of Jimmy Phillips and join David Lee, Tony Kelly, Nicky Spooner and Gavin McCann in the youth coaching

I think that sentence sums up perfectly why we never bring any players through the youth system.

Jimmy Phillips was shite.
David Lee all pace and no end product. Shite.
Tony Kelly a fat bastard with no professional pride to slim down. Shite.
Nicky Spooner was shite.
Gavin McCann was shite.

How the feck can the club expect to bring young players through when the people "teaching" them were fecking useless themselves.

Can't believe you just poo poo'd the impact of numerous club LEGENDS.

This is a serious point. The club have packed their Academy with crap ex-players, how the hell are they supposed to turn these teenagers into Premier League players?

Have you forgotten about K Nolan and N Hunt (both came through the academy and played well for the 1st team - before they went shit and we shipped them out!)

How many years ago was that though?

Joe Riley has been the first name in years that has made the step up.
