Double barrelled names used to mostly belong to stupid toffs but now there is a new trend leading to an increase in the number of people with double barrelled names. Apparently some women think it is a good idea when they marry to adopt a double barrelled name (their original surname plus their husband's) as that means they are equal. Personally I don't care if married women adopt their husband's surname or retain their own, but this latest fad is ridiculous. What happens when the children of these people marry? Do they have double double barrelled names? And the generation after that?

My ex wife re-married and then got another divorce. What I found strange was that she then changed her name back to MY name not her own. And it's not like she had a weird name - it was Rice - but she never did give me an explanation.

Maybe she doesn't want to go back to being a Ms. and she is more pissed off with her last ex-husband than she is with you? It is a little odd, though. I don't like the idea of my intended adopting my surname unto hers - she'd probably announce herself every time she got in the car - Holmes-James!

Absolute twats!

A male friend with the surname Brown has today announced that from this day forward both he and his wife will carry the surname Brown-Ledley.

Thing is, the ponce has been married to this woman for 4 years and has only now caved to his wife's demand.

Double barrelled names should be banned, or at least reserved for the posh.

This ^  :agree:

I used to work with a sad wanker who did this.

He got married, disappeared on honeymoon than came back demanding to be known by his new double-barrelled moniker.

I immediately lost what little respect I had for him right there and then.

Thought your father was also a millionaire businessman?

In fact, whittam international PLC was inherited by you from him wasn't it?

Or was that a little pork pie?

Just because you're posh doesn't mean you're rich and successful, just as being common doesn't mean you can't achieve success and a big bank balance.

My father was working class from Little Lever, he just happened to set up a major PLC.

I thought most people were a product of their upbringing.

So your dad wasn't posh?

So did he make you take elocution lessons and attend a finishing school?

I bet all the bellends supporting the government in this thread are the plebs with 5 kids at home.

If the government offered to support single posh women who needed a fanny transplant there would be fooking outrage.

Nope she thinks I would be more humorous with my name first - but she keeps trying to get me to use it, if/when we ever get married, hell no, my name is Amos and thats the way it stays!

Mr Amos, if you take your girlfriend's surname when you get married I will have to kill you. Man up.
