Dougie Freedman insists there will not be a mass exodus of players at the Reebok this summer.

The Wanderers boss must make a decision on five out-of-contract players, along with at least two senior stars who have spent the season out on loan.

He has also already identified “three or four” new signings he would like to make.

But the Scot believes he will be able to hold together the majority of the squad he has assembled in his 18 months in charge, and has played down suggestions he will carry out a major overhaul.

“The plan won’t be ripped up,” he told The Bolton News.

“There will be a natural progression because there are contracts up, some players will be coming back from loans too.

“There will be a natural turnaround and it will enable me to bring in more players I think can cope with the Championship.

“I have three or four targets that are already lined-up but there will still be a good nucleus of players here.”

Zat Knight, Chris Eagles, Stuart Holden, Tyrone Mears and Andre Moritz could leave for nothing in the summer, while big earners such as Keith Andrews and Marvin Sordell return from loan spells at Brighton and Charlton Athletic respectively.

It has been suggested the club will look to sell Andrews and Sordell in the summer to raise cash but Freedman maintains he has not made a firm decision on the future of either player.

“The loan players will come back to us and then we’ll decide,” he said.

“Just like some of the loan players who are currently with us might not end up going back to their own clubs.

“There is a lot to be decided. Some of the players would like to re-sign, others we would like to keep if the money is right.

“There are players we want to bring in and others we want to trade – if all that happened at once it would be like Christmas round here.

“I don’t expect that will be the case. I don’t think it tends to all happen at the same time, much as sometimes we’d like it to.”

WTF!
I hope he's saying this for the players' benefit - just to coax a performance out of them.

I'll be pissed off if we don't see the back of at least 4.
