With Wanderers securing successive victories on their travels against Yorkshire opposition in recent days, Neil Danns has every confidence that the team can continue their fine run of form as the season heads towards its conclusion.

Having notched his fifth goal of the season in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium, the midfielder admitted that confidence is high as the Whites head into the final stretch of the campaign.

“We’re on a good run right now, but it does feel like we’re playing Yorkshire teams every week at the moment,” he joked. “Thankfully we’ve won two games against opposition from those parts in the past week and hopefully we can continue that against Barnsley on Saturday.”

Reflecting on his strike in the midweek victory over Paul Dickov’s side, Danns explained that although he was pleased to get his name on the scoresheet, the result was all that really mattered to him.

“With my goal, it was all down to Alan Hutton who managed to get down the by-line,” he said. “Thankfully I connected with it well and it went in, but for me the main thing is just getting the win and the three points.

“It’s always nice to score a goal, but the team performance was really good and on another night we maybe could have had four or five which is testament to all the boys involved.”

He continued: “For the first 20 minutes or so, we thought we were on for a really big score line but then they scored a wonder free-kick which gave them a big lift.

“Doncaster isn’t an easy place to go to – they’ve already scalped some big teams like QPR, but we came away from home and we had a lot of chances to take the three points which at the end of the day is the main thing.

“It’s always a positive when you’re playing good football and creating chances – early on, the movement from everybody in the team and especially the frontmen was superb and that makes the job easier for the midfielders.

“The only disappointment is that we didn’t manage to score a few more goals – I hold my hands up for my awful shank at the end too, but you’re not going to score them all.

“The defenders have been outstanding during the past 12 games or so and when you’ve got them behind you in such good form, it gives the whole team confidence.

“To be fair to Doncaster, they kept going until the very end and had a few half chances, but I don’t think anybody can complain about us taking all three points.”

Thanks Neil. Perhaps if the team had done it when it mattered you wouldn't already be on your Summer holidays.
