Dougie Freedman believes his Bolton side are more than capable of beating potential league champions Leicester City.
Depending on Monday’s results, the Foxes could potentially wrap up the league title on Tuesday evening when they visit the Reebok Stadium.
But Freedman, whose side have suffered just one defeat in their last 14 games, says that although Nigel Pearson’s men are by far the best team in the division Wanderers can more than match them.
He said: “I think we’ve shown in recent weeks that we’re more than capable of competing with the top teams in this league.
“I look back to the game against Wigan, who are flying at the moment, and we could have won that game. I felt we were outstanding that day.
“The way we’re set up as a team right now, we’ve got a group of players who give nothing less than 100 percent every game. We just need to make sure we keep that up.
“You’ve got to give Nigel Pearson a lot of credit for what he’s done at Leicester. He’s built a very good team there with younger players, including the likes of Jamie Vardy and the two boys in midfield Danny Drinkwater and Matt James.
“They are a side that have been very well set up for the Championship and there’s no way we’ll be expecting them to ease off the gas come Tuesday.
“But we believe there’s no reason why we can’t match them and go on and beat them."
The previous meeting between the two sides this term was a high scoring affair. Leicester were eventual 5-3 winners in a topsy-turvy game at the King Power Stadium back in December.
And the manager later highlighted Leicester’s proficiency in front of goal as key to their race to the title.
Freedman added: “Earlier this season they scored five goals against us. Despite us also scoring three, they were certainly the better side that day.
“They’ve got four good strikers and are a very well organised side. When you have a number of goalscorers you’re always going to have a chance.
“I think that has shown by the fact that they can rotate their side and still have no problems finding the back of the net.”
