He offers something different which is good. Pace is important, but as others have said the big issue here is consistency.

Dougie's got a good record for getting the most out of players looking out of sorts at other clubs, hoping Feeney is as successful as Bolasie, Juke, Danns etc have been.

He was a breath of fresh air with his short loan spell with us, hopefully he continues that next season.

Moritz was a breath of fresh air for a while, then he had one stinker, and he was in everybody's bad books.

Personally, I'm pleased with this signing, provided he's on a small wage. I've no doubt there are shortcomings to his game that we didn't see in the few appearances he made for us. But the least he should be is a decent player to have around.

He'll create chances and will be exciting, back to the Bolton of old.  A David Lee sort of player.

One plus is that the lad wanted to come. What he may lack in ability, he makes up for with effort. Good signing in my book.

There's a lot of support for Feeney and I really hope he works out well but I remain unconvinced and of the 3 wingers we were linked with he'd be my 3rd choice. Hopefully he will prove me wrong.

At this point Natasha should write something about me being based in Norfolk and therefore not having a valid opinion of the player.

Dougie Freedman - Liam Feeney can add extra dimension

Dougie Freedman says Liam Feeney can add an extra dimension to Wanderers’ attacking play, after tying up a permanent deal for the winger.

Feeney, 27, will join up with Wanderers on a free transfer ahead of pre-season, with his contract at Millwall set to expire this summer.

And after proving a hit with the Bolton fans during a brief loan spell last season, Freedman has now moved to add the pacey wide man to his squad.

“Liam is someone who has been on our radar for some time, even prior to his loan spell with us,” Freedman told bwfc.co.uk. “His pace is obviously his main asset, but he is also the right character for our group.

“He gives us another option. He’s quick and direct and that’s something that maybe we haven’t had recently. In the Championship you need options.

“There was a bit of competition for his signature, and Liam wanted to come and play for Bolton Wanderers.

“He’s at the right age and has his best football ahead of him. He’s an exciting player and we’re happy to have him with us.”

Working on the theory that Feeney will get more balls into the box then it would seem a priority now to sign the Juke.....and somebody to slot home the knockdowns.  Otherwise it's crosses going in with nobody on the end of them.
Overall at least we are getting business done for a change rather that 11:55pm on deadline day. So that I applaud.

Liam Feeney thrilled to be back at Bolton

After penning a permanent deal at Bolton, Liam Feeney says he can’t wait for more of the action he previously experienced during a brief loan spell with the club last season.

The flying winger played just four games at Wanderers last season, proving a big hit with the club’s supporters, before his temporary stint at BL6 was cut short.

And despite interest from other clubs, Feeney admitted the decision to sign for Bolton when his current contract at Millwall expires on June 30 was an easy one.

“I’m really happy to get the deal done early,” he exclusively told bwfc.co.uk. “The manager had spoken to me when I was up here originally about signing me so that was always in the back of my mind, but I’m so pleased that it’s actually happening.

“Now I know that my future is sorted, I can get myself fit and ready for coming back where I’m sure we’ll have a hard but good pre-season and hopefully get off to a good start.”

He continued: “The loan spell I had here early last season played a massive part in my decision to come back – my time here was one of my highlights of last season.

“I’ve got really fond memories, even though it wasn’t that long ago, and the manager really sold it to me.

“Playing for the club last time out, the fans were really good with me and very welcoming, so that was obviously a big factor in my decision too. I’m just looking forward to getting started and having more of the same experiences.”

Due to link up with the squad ahead of their pre-season campaign, Feeney will also team up with former Millwall teammate Liam Trotter – a factor which he is confident will play its part in helping him settle in the area.

“Me and Trots are very good friends – we lived together down in London and when I was on loan at Blackburn I spent a lot of time with him in the local area.

“We seem to be following each other a bit, but obviously that is a plus point to have one of your best friends up here with you when you move somewhere new.

“On the whole though, they’re a good squad of boys here and everyone made it really easy – sometimes when you go out on loan, you can feel like a bit of an outsider but I didn’t feel like that at all.

“Everybody from the fans to the players and the manager all made me feel really welcome and like I belonged at the club which hopefully came out in my performances.”

With his initial spell at the club having been brought to a premature end in October of last year, the winger admitted that although he was disappointed to leave the club earlier than planned, he departed with Wanderers having left a lasting effect on him.

“It was frustrating when I went back to Millwall as I found myself on the bench. I’ll leave there with some fond memories and great friends that I’ve made during my time there.

“I’ve played in some great games and they gave me my chance in the Championship, so I wish them all the best for the future.

“There were a few other teams who showed an interest in me, especially with my contract being up in the summer, but I only ever wanted to come back to Bolton so I’m just glad that we could make it happen.

“Naturally, Dougie Freedman played a big part in my decision to come back, but the club sold itself with how the fans were with me and how amazing the stadium is to play in. I’m looking forward to more of that.”
