What a great day for sport in the UK. Wimbledon tennis final between Federer and Djokovic, Formula 1 Grand Prix from Silverstone and Tour De France from Yarkshire.

Spoilt for choice today!

It's just a pity that Cavendish was injured. Federer hopes to make history today by winning Wimbledon for the 8th time. He is currently tied with Sampras on 7 titles.

Likewise Lewis Hamilton will be hoping to close the gap on team mate Rosberg by winning at Silverstone although he starts from 6th on the grid. Jenson Button is 3rd on the grid and knows Silverstone very well so it should be an interesting afternoon.

What a great day. Hamilton wins at Silverstone after a one hour delay because of an horrendous crash. Raikkonen and Massa have certainly used up one of their nine lives. Massa only has six lives left after crashing on Friday and having a wheel nut embedded in his head last season.

Great tennis final with Djokovik winning in 5 sets against Federer. Murray is going to have to up his game if he plans on winning any more Grand Slams. At 27 he is the same age as Djokovik and Nadal is only 28. Federer at 32 is the elder statesman but I wouldn't put it past him to continue to compete at the top level.

Wonderful stage at the Tour in Yorkshire - estimates of 2.5 million people lining the route (see here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-28179818 ) - to put that into some context that's roughly 1 person in 35 of everybody in the United Kingdom being there - truly amazing really.
