Neil Lennon feels key refereeing decisions didn’t go the way of his side following a 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town.

Wanderers were a goal up inside 60 seconds when Darren Pratley crashed home his third goal in as many matches.

But Huddersfield won the game thanks to goals at the end of each half from Jacob Butterfield and sub Nahki Wells.

And Lennon was left disappointed with the decision to disallow Emile Heskey’s goal for offside with the scores level at 1-1.

“We come away from the game feeling a little aggrieved,” the manager said after the game. “We’ve seen the footage back and we feel Emile Heskey is onside when he scores when the game was level.

“It was a pivotal moment in the game and we feel that the decision changed the psychology of the game somewhat.

“Then, for their winning goal, we feel there was a clear handball in the build-up. The referee has waved play on and in the end we’ve ended up losing the game.

“We had been on a great run of late, and what we now have to do is pick ourselves up and look to do exactly that again.

“We got off to a great start with a world class goal from Darren Pratley, who is playing very well.

“To be fair to Huddersfield they came straight back at us and pressed us deep in our half.

“Whilst we were under a bit of pressure, I still felt that we looked dangerous on the break in the first half and we had a great chance when Eidur Gudjohnsen goes through on goal.

“After half time I felt we dominated for large parts without ever really threatening the Huddersfield goal.

“At 1-1 you just never know what might happen and unfortunately the big decisions went against us today.

“We’re a little bit deflated right now, but these things happen in football. Our fans were fantastic today and we now look to go again back at the Macron against Wigan."

Recently we've won narrowly when decisions have gone our way. We have competed against teams and given ourselves a chance, but we are still a long way from being good enough not to have to worry about the odd decision. Yesterday was just poor, despite what Lennon says.
