Virtually every rap tune you've ever heard will sample a jazz song at some point.

I remember this was when he got into lift music - a style I don't especially like - when he left Mahavishnu in the mid 70s? But he did drum up a storm on the same album I think.

Heather is off Cobham's second album. The one you are probably thinking of WL is his first, Spectrum, which I think most people would agree is his best.

Good example of what I mean about the edges of jazz being blurry. Crimson/prog rock in general overlaps with Jazz and folk and blues...

I honestly didn't realise so many Bolton fans were also devotees of Jazz.

I mean, I've sat near some right boring bastards at the match over the years but they weren't "Jazz fan" boring......

Tippett, married of course to the wonderful Julie Driscoll, who's done lots of good jazz/pop stuff herself.
