Musical Icon and the ability to change with the times!
Saw him on a couple of occasions including the opening of Hardrock in Manchester when Iggy Pop was in support.
RIP

the word legend is overused but he was a true legend. A musical innovator since the early 70's and as SK said never stood still and was always willing to try something new and not just rest on his admittedly amazing laurels

His new album only came out last week and has been getting rave reviews.

A very sad day for music

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

I was never a massive fan of David Bowie personally. Used to like watching Labyrinth when I was a kid though.

Just watching the tributes in the news. I fall into the category of those who didn't realise just how many of bowies song i actually liked. Thought it was 1 or 2. Definitely not. RIP

It was sensational when he first performed his Ziggy Stardust concerts - people were turning up expecting him to look like this

Just released Blackstar a couple of days ago so in the true spirit of the great musician, songwriter, composer, innovator and icon that he was, he must have been dealing with the cancer whilst he was working on it.

He occasionally disappeared up his own ass but his vast works included some of the greatest pop songs of all time and he will be sorely missed by the fans and the thousands of artists he influenced. Personally, I'm gutted.

RIP.

Summed it up there perfectly.
Read an article by his ex at weekend about him when he was with her and having her cherry popped. I wonder if she knew how close he was when she spoke to the Mirror?

I had always thought he was a comedy act cos they played the Laughing Gnome on Caroline in the 60s at a time when I was listening to Cream, Hendrix and obscure rock and folk. Then he appeared on TOTP doing Space Oddity which blew me away and the effect was enhanced by the fact it was Pete Murray introducing the bands. I bought The Man who sold the world and Hunky Dory and from then on in I was hooked.

Sad news.

I agree with what everybody else has said - legend is a word that gets used far too often but in Mr Jones' case it was spot on.

I was at that gig too.

Can't believe he's gone.

Used to have huge arguments about him with my Dad,who strongly believed that any man who didn't have at least one cauliflower ear and a broken nose, was clearly a 'puff'.

Even he came round in the end. RIP.

Boncey.
I walked home from that gig all the way up Chorley Old Road!
My Dad used to say he was a disgrace to his sex! So similar vibes there.
