Our Championship rival's Barnsley clearly think so -

Barnsley have signed former Tottenham and Middlesbrough striker Mido, reports BBC Radio Sheffield.

The deal is subject to a medical and international clearance.

It is believed the 29-year-old Egyptian has agreed a one-year contract with the Championship club, who become his fifth side in England.

Mido, who has also played for Wigan and West Ham, was released by Zamalek in May after falling out of favour with boss Hassan Shehata.

The former Ajax striker left after a dispute between the board and Shehata.

Shehata initially quit his post citing the board's refusal to meet his demands for changing the squad, but was reinstated after Mido was released.

He has so far made 114 appearances in English football, scoring 28 goals, between 2005 and 2010.

However he failed to score in nine games for his last team in England, West Ham, during an unsuccessful loan spell at the end of the 2009-10 season.

A decent signing for a club like Barnsley, he'll sell a few season tickets and might score a few goals. He looked pretty shite last time I saw him though.

I'd rather have Sordell, even though he may never play.

He looked pretty decent when he first played for Spurs, last time I saw him play though he made Mario Jardel look like Posh Spice.

Robbie Blake and the word 'shit' do not belong in the same sentence.
Too slow, past it or too much timber would be fair enough.

As for Mido..... i can see this signing helping to shift another half a dozen Season Tickets but I can also see him going missing on a cold, wet and blustery tuesday night at Bloomfield Rd.
No doubt that he'll be injured more than he plays.

No it doesn't work as it still isn't expressive enough.

I'm pretty sure Mido was Big Sam's number 1 transfer target years ago. I think Mido may have been at Ajax at the time, of course we missed out and he went on to play for Marseille and about another dozen teams after that.

Someone posted that Gardner has been loyal. Well he loyally picked up his pay packet and went back to bed I suppose.

Being at the same club for a long time doesn't necessarily spell out 'loyalty', like a lot of people assume.

It's a relative term, doffcocker. If you have a player on your books for 15 years who never asks for a move, then relatively, that's a loyal footballer.

Gardner, in his prime was a very good player for Wanderers. Either on the wing or at fullback. Bibi had a lot of injury problems but whenever he played for us he was always committed and never shirked his responsibilities.

Always liked Bibi ...... excellent skills on the ball for the most part. Wasted in many ways towards the end..... of course injuries did most of it.

We will pick up Mido after he scores a brace againt us and bury him in the reserves......just like Eaves who scored a hatrick against us in pre-season last year.....never been seen since. scratch

Mido would be more useful for us than KDavies will be.
