I think Rio has dropped a bollock with his 'choc ice' reference aimed at Ashley Cole.

Mates are mates irrespective of their colour. It all stinks of sour grapes because Anton lost his case but I wonder how much was manipulated by the media ?

If a black or Asian or oriental person called me a white bastard I wouldn't be offended. They would probably be right on both counts. If Ashley Cole chose to support Terry in his trial I see no reason why Rio should have a go at him.

If somebody tweets using an expression that's deemed to be racist they decide it's worthy of investigation. If someone else then tweets laughingly agreeing and repeating the term, I would say it's the same thing.

I know that the law on libel goes something like, if you read something that is libellous, it is no defence to pass it on and say that you were not the author. You too are also open to possible court action being taken against you.

That's why as mods/admin on this (or any other) site we have a duty to remove any stuff we think might be libellous otherwise by leaving it up we become guilty by association also.

According to the news, Ashley Cole was quite offended by Rio's remark. Calling a black person a choc ice is the same thing as calling them an Uncle Tom. Rio should have more sense than pulling a stroke like that. He must have known that the press would pick up on it.

These "professionals" are like a bunch of schoolgirls with their pathetic name-calling. Man up.

Rio is angry because he didn't get picked for the euros.

Hardly, he's probably angry because he feels someone racially abused his brother.

His tweet was stupid however, and honestly he just lowered himself to Terry's level.

I think there is a decent argument that Rio would have been selected to play alongside Terry were it not for the racial abuse case involving his brother.

If I called Rio a chocolate drop on Twitter, the filth would be all over me like a rash. He should have been sensible and kept his thoughts to himself. I can see the FA coming down hard on any players who post controversial shit on Twitter. They are supposed to be professional role models after all.
