Should have put this on my own thread,but I'm angry.

I saw this on breakfast telly this morning and I know he/she was "only" a worm, but I too was outraged when they slipped in that they'd off'd him / her in the name of science.

What message does that send?

Don't live a decent healthy life and make yourself better than the average worm because if you do, we're going to drown you in formaldehyde and stick you in a jar.

(And I am actually a bit serious about this. I mean, come on....how long do worms live? Surely they could've stuck him in a box of soil and waited for nature to take its course? Science bastards!)

Quite right. He might have grown bigger.

We've been denied a giant worm story,and I,for one,am well pissed off.

I've sent for Dave Snr.

Apparently he tried to buy his freedom



and once that failed he almost managed to get away on the tube

No! They didn't kill him did they?

How did they know it was a boy?

Sadly, yes - Dave is no longer with us.

One of our number has sadly fallen in the name of science.

According to 5Live this morning, he/she was found in a veg patch in Widnes and was immediately named Dave by the son of the bloke who found him / her.

Because "he looked like a Dave", despite the fact the worms are generally hermaphrodite.

In Widnes they call them Dave, in other places they pick other names.
