PHIL Parkinson has confirmed Wanderers’ interest in Ipswich Town front man Joe Garner.

The club announced late on Friday night they had made two six-figure bids for strikers – and it is believed one of those bids is for the 30-year-old, former Preston North End man.
“Joe is a player I have always admired from his time at Preston but at the moment he’s an Ipswich player,” said the Wanderers boss in his pre-West Brom press conference on Friday. “He’s one of a number of players we’ve been looking at.”

Garner has spent 12 months at Portman road, scoring 10 goals in 32 appearances last season following a £1million move from Rangers.
He is best known for a prolific spell at Deepdale, where 51 goals in two seasons helped Preston get promotion from League One.
Ipswich boss Paul Hurst is keen to put his own stamp on the squad and said this week there has been “nothing concrete” on Garner’s exit.
“We’ll look at each situation on its own merits,” he said. “If someone comes in and offers £10million for any of our players then I think we’d have some serious dialogue and chances are they might be on their way. But it all depends at what level.”
Wanderers may have to wait until Ipswich boost their own numbers in attack before they are able to progress the move – but the striker is understood to be keen on coming back to the North West.

Parkinson has already lost out on one of his top striker targets this summer, with Charlie Wyke making a £500,000 move to Sunderland from Bradford City.
Bolton made a considerable offer for the 25-year-old but were unable to match the bonuses on offer from the Black Cats, which inflated the value of the transfer to seven figures.
