Life is passing us by. It doesn't matter if you are 18 or 80, every day that passes is another day where you did nothing to make your mark on society.
How many of us have actually done something worthwhile in our lifetime? I don't mean being the best salesman at work or winning a trophy for darts or fisting, I mean something genuinely worthwhile that helps another human being. Something that people will talk about long after you are in the ground. Something future generations of your family will be proud of.
My great grandad won a medal for bravery in the first world war, he saved two injured soldiers under fire and the story is well documented. Even though I never met him I am extremely proud of him. His legacy to the Whittam family is extreme bravery.
But what have I done? Nothing is the answer. Ok, people will remember me as having a great knowledge of football, for being a hot chick, and for building a major plc in Whittam International. They may even remember my 1994 volley at Deepdale, but I won't be remembered for having done anything beyond the call of duty or exceptional.
Do you feel the same way? Are we wasting our lives worrying about Bolton's back four or the price of vaseline? Weren't we put on this Earth for more than working five days a week to pay the mortgage?
