Stuart Pearce felt both sets of fans should have gone home happy after a “good advert for the Championship.”

The former England Under-21 boss preserved his unbeaten start as Forest boss with a 2-2 draw at the Macron Stadium.

Although a little unhappy that Forest had been unable to turn superior second-half possession into a third goal, Pearce had few complaints with a point.

“In the first half I was pleased across the board, although the downside was our defending. We gifted Bolton that first goal,” he said.

“Second half that improved drastically and we played some good football.

“We had to compete against Bolton’s style of tossing it into the channels, competing and getting second balls and knock downs. A bit more direct than how we play.

“But it was a battling performance by both teams and in the main a good, exciting Championship game.

“Both supporters will have come away pleased that their sides had got something from the game and pleased with some of the talent and football on show.

“If there was a better Championship game out there today there would probably only have been one or two of them.

“It was two good teams going head-to-head desperate to win the match. I don’t think either side was intent taking a draw out of the game.”

Pearce broke the Forest club record to sign Britt Assombalonga from Peterborough United for £5.5million this summer and after watching him score twice against the Whites, was pleased his new boy had got off the mark for his new club.

“He is an outstanding player with a great goalscoring record.

“On top of that he brings great work rate.

“But Matty Fryatt deserves a special mention because he did a lot of unselfish work dropping into the hole which allowed Britt to play further up the field.”

Sorry piercey but you need glasses if you think Dougie was going for the win in the last half hour. Smile
Mr F doesn't do that mate. Still since I expected a battering I've gotta say I'm happy with a point.
