Neil Lennon says his side’s performance lacked creativity, as Wanderers were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds at Macron Stadium.

The game’s two goals came from two penalties at the start of each half, with Rodolph Austin giving the visitors an early lead before Eidur Gudjohnsen levelled after the restart.

“I think in the end it was a fair result,” Lennon said in his post-match press conference. “We’re disappointed, but satisfied with a point because we were nowhere near our best.

“We got off to a poor start and I’m not convinced that either of the two penalties should have actually have been given.

“We wanted to impose ourselves on the game early on, but unfortunately we never really did that.

“A lot was said at half time and we did get off on the front foot at the start of the second half.

“We’re missing a bit of creativity at the moment. Mark Davies, Lee Chung-Yong and Max Clayton are all big misses for us. We were also without Zach Clough today, who has a minor hamstring complaint.

“We need to get some bodies. We need to complement what we already have.

“We didn’t really want Eidur and Emile both playing for as long as they did, but we didn’t really have any other choice.

“I thought Josh Vela was outstanding from start to finish. We’ve got a 21-year-old lad there who is just getting better with each game.

“It was nice to see Eidur get himself on the scoresheet – that’ll do him the world of good.

“We huffed and puffed today and we didn’t really have much composure to our play. You have to give Leeds a fair amount of credit, because they dug in and made it difficult for us.

“I’m sitting here disappointed, but then I also have to remember that it’s still only one defeat. That shows how far we’ve come.

“We’ve got to try and get that momentum going again if we really want to start climbing the table.”
