A casual look at the teamsheet for the U21's against Reading would have popped up the name Matija Boben. But just who is Matija Boben?

Born on February 26, 1994, the 20 year old Slovenian is a centre back who represented his country as an U17 player. Presently on the books at NK Ivancna Gorica, he has been given the opportunity to impress our coaching staff as a part of our development squad.

Although known as a solid, if unspectacular defender, his outing against Reading revealed a willingness to assist the attack when the opportunity arises. This willingness is yet to be backed up by ability, as young Chris Lester showed clever footwork to navigate his way past four Royals defenders as he powered his way into the area before laying the ball back to Boben, who got the ball caught under his feet and was dispossessed before being able to get a shot away.

On the bright side, Lennon must surely be running the rule with a view to adding affordable talent to our roster and it makes a pleasant change to see players coming from far and wide instead of our usual happy hunting grounds at Crystal Palace and Millwall.

Neil has brought in a fair few foreigners on loan/trial. Hope they make it but isn't there a concern re the number of Brits you have to have in your squad?

Dude is in the development squad, Lusty - that doesn't affect the first team numbers. In any case, Neil brought in Slavchev, Rochinha and Twardzik as non-Brits. There's only Eidur that I can think of now who is a Non-Brit in the first team and Boggers when he returns from injury.

Janko is coming in from Manure (Swiss)
Ream is American
Dervite is French

so that's 8 already Keegs and I may have missed some.

What's the limit?

can't you be foreign and still be "home grown" in some way.

Yes.

Down here we call them "Scottish people".

Forgot Ream and Dervite... Sad

The rule is: Only five overseas loan players allowed in matchday squads.

Rochinha (Portugal)
Slavchev (Croatia)
Janko (Switzerland)

We're good.

I suppose it could also be argued, if necessary, that the rule should apply to overseas loan players if they were loaned from overseas clubs - and that would strike Janko from the list as well.
