The populist Brit voters don't agree with benefit cuts for all claimants.
Tell them that middle-aged people with disabilities unable to work will get their benefits cut and they'll be up in arms. Tell them that scrounging bastards with self-induced heart problems through prolonged drug abuse and 10 kids will be having their benefits cut and they'll be shouting from the rafters.

How do you tell one from the other if both meet the criteria for a particular benefit? You can't unless you change the criteria but there's always a danger of setting the bar to enact personal prejudices. But I suppose that's what democracy is supposed to do i.e. follow the will of the majority of the people. Shame we don't have democracy.
