Having made his Wanderers debut earlier this month against local rivals Burnley, Jose Manuel Casado is relishing the prospect of another Lancashire derby against Preston North End this weekend.

Slotting into the Whites backline with ease in place of the injured Dean Moxey, the Spanish defender has adapted to life in England quickly following his summer move to Macron Stadium.

And with his English improving by the day, the 29-year-old revealed in an exclusive maiden chat with bwfc.co.uk how much the Spanish-based Casado clan are looking forward to the Whites’ televised derby clash on Halloween night.

“It’s nice for me when the game is on television,” said the defender. “It means my family in Spain can watch me play. Hopefully we can give them something to cheer about!

“The next game is very important for us. We’re playing well but aren’t getting the results at the moment.

“We’re not having much luck getting goals but when the team starts to score more, then I am sure we won’t have a problem.”

Having spent the entirety of his career in his native Spain prior to joining Bolton, Casado also shared how he is revelling in life in England.

“I am very happy here,” he said. “I like English football. It’s different to what I am used to. In Spain it is more technical, but here it is very fast and very strong.

“The fans are great too and really supportive, while Macron Stadium is a very, very good stadium. I am enjoying it and like being here very much.

“I feel the first three games have gone very well for me personally. Sadly we didn’t get a win in the games, but it is now very important to get a good result against Preston on Saturday.”

Reminds me a bit of Paul Robinson, except he looks like a good player.
