Conor Wilkinson marked his Newport County debut, and 21st birthday, with a goal against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.

Completing 90 minutes for the Exiles, it looked to be turning into a day to forget as goals from Christian Doidge and Joe Worrall saw Newport 2-0 down inside the opening six minutes.

However, the Sky Bet League Two side fought back as John-Christophe Ayina halved the deficit in the 83rd minute to set up a nail-biting finish at Rodney Parade.

And with the game drawing to a close, Wilkinson stroked home in the 88th minute to complete the comeback and earn Newport a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere in the division, Oscar Threlkeld was an 89th minute substitute for Plymouth Argyle as they secured a late draw away at Bristol Rovers.

Falling behind to Billy Bodin’s 79th minute strike, Josh Simpson equalise for the Pilgrims in the 88th minute, with Threlkeld replacing Jake Jervis moments later as Plymouth saw out the game to seal a point.

In Sky Bet League One, Hayden White completed 90 minutes as Blackpool scored a last-minute equaliser to draw away at promotion-chasing Walsall.

Having seen Jason Demetriou fires the Saddlers ahead, Danny Philliskirk scored deep into stoppage-time for the Tangerines to ensure the game ended in stalemate.

Also in the third tier, Lawrie Wilson was an unused substitute as Peterborough United lost 2-1 away at Gillingham.

Meanwhile in the Vanarama National League, Ross Fitzsimons helped Bishop’s Stortford won 2-0 at home to Gosport Borough.
