I'm sure many of you have read about this today on either the BWFC website or the Bolton News, but Nat's family have chosen the image which will form the basis of his statue from the three shortlisted by a fans' poll.

The image depicts Nat leading Wanderers out of the tunnel at Burnden Park with the ball in his hands.

I was on a train back from a meeting this afternoon when I read the article and found myself almost choke up when I read a quote from Nat's family which includes his final words:

"I've got the ball now, it's a bit worn, but I've got it."

It just hit me how much he loved football and Bolton Wanderers. I know somebody whose sister works in the care home Nat spent his last years in and apparently he had given up on life towards the very end and just wanted to go. It just blew me away, and I'm not a sentimental or emotional person.

The other two images which were short-listed, of Nat holding aloft the FA Cup, and scoring a volley for England, will be represented in 'bronze reveals' (not quite sure what a bronze reveal is) in the garden of remembrance.

God bless our Nat.

Ha, ha. I have an effigy of you on my mantelpiece, but if you submit some images I am sure we can vote on your statue.

I guess the short list might look a little like this:

1. Nat in a barbeque queue behind Sam Allardyce
2. Nat jumping up and down celebrating Julian Darby's 'winner' at The Dell
3. Nat in sailor's hat, commandeering a narrow boat
4. Nat chatting to Gary Megson in a Cheshire bar
5. Nat aged 15 giving her science teacher a hand job

Consider yourself promoted to manager of my fan club.

Did I read something somewhere about Dean Holdsworth and a jacuzzi?

That's a good choice of image to base the statue on. Nat Lofthouse was more of an icon to his club and town than any other player you can think of.

I just hope they make a proper job of it - a lot of the modern statues you see around are dog rough and look like they were knocked together by a five year old out of play dough.

Whoever's doing it - make sure you give the man and the club something to be proud of.

Nat's statue is being done by the same guy who did Bobby Robson at Ipswich, so hopefully it will be bob on.

That's what I mean, looks amateurish. Even without the cone.

I'm sure the guy who is doing nats statue will do a better job than that to be honest...it couldn't look much worse and if it is the same guy who did bobby robsons it should look good.

Fred Dibnah's statue looks like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz.

Plus, Fred never wore tight lycra exposing his pecker.

RT, I think you are Aaron must masturbate excessively. There's nothing wrong with the Fred Dibnah statue IMO.

Just look at his glasses. They make him look like a seedy dirty old man flasher type. Fred wore denim ' piecers overalls ' not spandex.

The statue of Bobby Robson at Ipswich is done in a life-like way.

I think this is preferable to the more stylized one at St James Park.

Sir Bobby Robson's statues are much better. People laugh at Fred's elephants trunk but Fred was more into traction than friction.
