Wanderers face an anxious wait over the fitness of FOUR first teamers for tomorrow’s trip to Oldham Athletic.

Striker Gary Madine and full-back Andy Taylor have made steady progress in training but it is understood the game at Boundary Park could now arrive too soon for them to come back into contention for a starting place.

Worryingly for Phil Parkinson two more key players have also suffered injuries this week with centre-back Dorian Dervite unable to train because of infected blisters on his foot and midfielder Darren Pratley nursing a hamstring problem.

“We have got some decisions to make,” the manager told The Bolton News. “We’ll monitor the players and see how they are closer to the game.

“On the upside we’ve looked very bright in training. It has been a week where we’ve been able to patch a few people up as well who have been carrying things, which happens when you play Saturday-Tuesday.”

Parkinson knows six points from the final four games will seal promotion to the Championship. Results for Bradford, Fleetwood and Scunthorpe today and on Monday may reduce that total – but the Wanderers boss is determined to focus on his own lot for now.

As Bolton fans across the town are glued to the TV, radio and social media listening for updates across League One today, Parkinson will be doing his homework.

The Whites boss took in Bury’s home game against Rochdale last night and will travel to see Port Vale host Sheffield United this afternoon.

“It’s a good chance to look at the two teams we’ve got coming up,” he said. “You have to use the spare days to our advantage and it’s always better to watch opposition live.

“I’ll take notice of results when I come in at half time for a cup of tea and then at the end but our destiny is in our own hands. Obviously there are results that could make the job easier and some that could make it a little bit more difficult. But in the main we have taken control of our own situation.”
