With performances like today's we will be down by Christmas. There is no creativity at all. We don't mix it up, we just bang it up to Madine. This was a must win game 1 point isn't acceptable from a relegation rival. It's a good point if you consider how shite we were yes. But not a good point in the grand scheme of things!

Yeah curse those hard fought away points!

Hardly hard fought. We got lucky. How many shots did we have on target until Morais came on? I'll tell you 0! Out of all the 5 goals we've scored in all competitions how many have come from open play? Just 1! It's clear the tactics aren't working. We are going to struggle this year if Parky doesn't sort it out asap.Kane57 wrote:Leeds_Trotter wrote:With performances like today's we will be down by Christmas. There is no creativity at all. True LT. he's still going for his kick and run tactics, and in this league we'll come up short very soon. When you add the slow starts to the games, we'll get our arses whipped on a regular basis.

I'm not going to give advice or criticism to a manager who performed miracles to get us promotion against all the odds last season and who has done an exceptional job in clearing out expensive deadwood and replacing them with promising talent despite the transfer embargo.
Let's see see how they perform when all are fit and blended in to the team ethic, as set by Parkinson. The tactics have to fit the abilities of the players at our disposal. Early days for this squad!

3 games in and the tactics still don't work. It works when you out wingers on, but when the wing backs aren't getting forward there becomes a problem. How are we supposed to win games when we don't provide any attacking threat? We struggled to beat Crewe for Christ sake, that should have been our wake up call that the current tactics aren't working. These weren't the tactics that got us promoted, so why change it now?

These are exactly the tactics that got us promoted. Hoofball supported by a strong defence.
His mistake yesterday was leaving Morais on the bench, he is our only creative player. I can't see the mistake being repeated on Tuesday at Birmingham.
Personally I don't see these tactics keeping us up this season but, like most managers, Parky will play it his way regardless of results.

Miracles? Parky had more former Premiership and Championship players at his disposal than any other team in League 1 - whether he liked it or not as they were still under contract.okocha wrote:I'm not going to give advice or criticism to a manager who performed miracles to get us promotion against all the odds last season and who has done an exceptional job in clearing out expensive deadwood and replacing them with promising talent despite the transfer embargo.
Getting promoted from League 1 with the likes of Spearing, Wheater, Pratley and Le Fondre in your team is hardly a "miracle" IMO although it could be argued that it could have gone wrong - and equally argued that we should have won the title.
This season is a different story though and the objective is survival but if playing defensively at the expense of creating chances is Parky's solution I think it's totally fair to question his abilities as he faces his first real test as BWFC manager.
It's just a fact that we aren't dominating play or creating enough chances and that's a legitimate concern IMO.

You and I both know yours are "facts" of the Trump variety.
Be honest:- given what he inherited and what had happened the previous season, did you seriously think that we'd be promoted, especially when we had to offload one or two, and some spent long periods injured? Of the ones you mention, Pratley played only 12 times, Alf only 19....but rarely for 90 mins and was another club's elderly reject as a failure.
No, Parky exceeded every fan's expectations.
Give the new recruits time to settle and for Parky to assess how best to employ them before you start complaining about tactics that were successful last year despite the cash restrictions.......There's your miracle! Good god, we've only played two league games, have won an away point, and you are already on his back!

We had made 10 changes to a team that at least threatened Leeds. We were a long way from full strength, using players that havent played together much.
As soon as we made the changes and brought on first team regulars it all turned around and we won. I wouldnt be worried about that performance particularly.
Plus its the cup, anything can happen. If someone like Chelsea lost to a league 1 team in the cup are they suddenly terrible and will win nothing?
This will likely be a long hard season but only scraping a win against Crew should not be an indicator going forward as to how the season will pan out.

We are two games in, Christ.
How about we let the new signings bed in and the team to gel, just like last season we started slow after the new signings in January but then put 5 wins in a row together.
We also have Ameobi and Vela to come back, I very much doubt we'll go down

The main worry is the manager still thinks hoofball is going to keep us up this season. It won't.
Unfortunately it's the only way he knows. Le Fondre is wasted in this system. It's square pegs into round holes again. Just like the previous two managers.

Does Parky ever mention lack of creativity in his news conferences? Maybe he can't see it from the dugout.
So hoof ball it is then .... I'm not sure what else we can expect with the players we have or the on-going financials debacle.

This video shows Millwall having 6 or 7 decent chances any one of which they might have scored from.
Our attacking display? Morais FK. That was it.
